As an athlete you have had to be self-critical, you have had to navigate the unknown, you have experienced moments of failure and defeat, and through it all you continued to get back up.

It is in these moments when being compassionate towards yourself (versus continuing to beat your self-up) is most needed.

Being self-compassionate does not make you lazy, it does not mean you are making excuses, or spending time feeling sorry for yourself.
